*BTW I can't change the emotion thing, but I'm NOT content, I'm tired and worried (below) ;n; *

Hey guys, it’s been a bit over a week, but boy do I have a bunch to say. I feel I’m going to have to shorten everything by a lot, though, you know how long my journals are lol ^u^

Firstly, I’m back from Orlando. My sister’s team did OK, I guess they could have done better, but not a bad turnout. And of course Disney was fun, but After already going there a few other times this time felt sort of rushed, cuz our main targets were the rides xD lame, I know, but we did see a bunch of other stuff as well.

My sister and parents talked me into going on the Tower of Terror at MGM (excuse me, Hollywood) studios. I’m sorry but drops freak me out so badly, I had to hang on to my dads arm and I kept screaming xDD Funny, I love roller coaster loops and twists, like on the Rock N’ Roller coaster (Best coaster EVER n_n), but I H-A-T-E drops, they scare the crap outta me xDD How about you all?

<sub>Also, um, while we were gone, a pair of Mockingbirds have been living in a bush right outside our front door. We only found out they were there after my dad hired people to trim the bushes a while ago, and now the nest is clearly visible (poor birds, they must have hated all that racket ;n; ) Before we left a week ago, I checked the nest (very carefully, mind you) and found at least 2 eggs, I wasn’t going to push my luck and look more >u>

Well yesterday, our area got some much needed rainfall in the form of a large downpour, lightning and all. It didn’t eve occur to me how it effected the exposed nest. This morning I walk out the front door with my door, Jetta, for her walk, lo and behold I nearly step on a small, chirping little chick. It scared me at first, but it was so cute, gaping mouth, pin feathers and all. <333

So I pulled Jetta back in and I got a plastic bag to see if I could at least move the chick under the shade and out of the open, cuz I knew I couldn’t attempt to put it back in the nest myself cuz the Mockingbird pair (which I could hear and see on the top of the roof) could tear me apart if they though I was going to harm the chick and nest. But I have a cockatiel, so I knew just how to handle the chick, but It was chirping so loud and the pair were squawking and flying so close I couldn’t do much more than put it under the bush in the shade. I also saw that the nest had collapses on the side from the rain, so the chick had fallen out.

Well, I knew the chick wouldn’t survive if it was out of the nest for long, and the pair wouldn’t be able to care for it our “lift” it back up, so I called the local animal control to see if they could possibly place the bird backing the nest, or recommend what we could to help. At first, they accepted my request and said a humane officer would be on the way, but when the officer called back, she said that at this point the mother wouldn’t have much to do with the chick anymore (I’ve heard this before, but the patrolling parents outside could have fooled me), so unfortunately the best thing to do was to leave the bird alone.

Needless to say I was rather crushed. You all may think it’s weird to worry over a chick, but I care deeply for animals, ALL animals (well, maybe minus some insects and arachnids, but I give them their space) and I would have done just about anything to save it and put it back in the nest. But I know I can’t do it with the parents around, they wouldn’t know I was trying to help, and they certainly would abandon the place if I tried for too long. Gosh, I feel so useless for not helping, but my dad acknowledged I did the best I could, and that’s all anyone can do. I only wonder what will become of the chick and it’s sibling(s), and the parents, poor things. And OMFG, now it’s raining again… TTnTT

But I feel that experience with the Mockingbirds may have been an omen of my possible future in veterinary medicine, which I’ve recent put in the back of my mind looking for other possible careers. Who knows, maybe this failure was a sign I was meant to do my best to care for animals, or at least do something with them if not be a vet.</sub>
